My background
Felicia Bermudez doesn't just study economic mobility; she's lived it. Born and raised in the Bay Area, she navigated from public schools and free lunch programs to two decades of marketing leadership at top tech companies. Now, as an Emerge California graduate, she's turning that hard-won expertise towards progressive advocacy.
As one of the only 2% of Latinas in tech, Bermudez brings a rare perspective. She survived the systematic underinvestment in California schools in the 1980s, experiencing firsthand the effects of policy choices. But she also caught the brief windows of opportunity in the 1990s that enabled her to become a first-generation college graduate and Division I athlete.
With a Political Science degree and an MBA, Bermudez honed her marketing skills for twenty years, witnessing the industry's evolution from creative to scientific and data-driven, always focused on calculating ROI. She's determined to use that expertise for social change.
Through her writing and social media presence, Bermudez sparks conversations about the human cost of inequity and the urgent need for systemic solutions. As a Book Academy graduate and Second Harvest Food Bank volunteer and speaker, she draws on her own experiences with food insecurity to advocate for change.
For Bermudez, the fight for economic mobility is deeply personal. She knows that talent is universal, but opportunity is not. And she's determined to bridge the gap between policy and reality for the next generation.
